Found a 1999 article that said the internet would be dead by 2005

I was clearing out my dad's garage in Tampa last weekend and stumbled on a copy of Wired where some expert predicted dial-up would kill broadband because "no one needs faster than 56k" - has anyone else found an old prediction that made them laugh out loud?

Read that same piece in a library copy around 2001 and remembered thinking my dad was wasting money on cable. Turns out that old pattern of people thinking the current thing is good enough is still going strong with AI and self-driving cars today. We all just keep assuming tomorrow will look like today, and it never does.
