Found a 2005 article saying the iPhone would flop because nobody wants a touchscreen keyboard

I was cleaning out my dad's old bookmarks folder on his PC last weekend and stumbled across this gem from 2005. It was some tech blog predicting the iPhone would crash and burn because physical keyboards were superior and people would hate typing on glass. The funny thing is I remember thinking the same thing when I first saw the iPhone in 2007. I legit told my friend it looked like a toy. But fast forward to today and I can't even type on a BlackBerry keyboard without getting frustrated. It took me like 3 hours to dig through all those dead links and cached pages but it was worth it for the laughs. Anybody else have old predictions they personally believed that turned out hilariously wrong?

Remember having a similar conversation with my sister when the first iPad came out. I told her nobody would want a tablet that was just a giant phone without the phone part. We were sitting in her kitchen drinking coffee and I was so sure it was a waste of money. Now I do almost everything on a tablet and I feel silly remembering how stubborn I was about it. Funny how we get attached to what we know even when something better is right around the corner.

Rosejackson that story hits close to home. I remember reading an article about how people initially thought the iPad was just a "consumption device" and critics said nobody would want one for real work. Funny thing is I was in the same boat, thinking tablets were useless until my niece showed me she does all her art on one. She even does photo edits and writes her college papers on it now. Guess we all have those moments where we're too stuck in our ways to see what's coming.
