My 2005 'smart fridge' article predicted wifi ice cubes, oops
Back in June 2005 I wrote a blog post for a local tech site in Columbus predicting every fridge would stream video by 2010, I even sketched a touchscreen door with a chat app. Instead my current fridge just beeps when the filter expires, but last week I found that old post while cleaning my hosting account and laughed for 10 minutes straight. Anyone else ever revisit their cringiest prediction and wish you could delete it from the internet?

I mean, the bit about the touchscreen door with a chat app is kinda funny, but you're kinda wrong about the wifi ice cubes part. Like, smart fridges today do stream video, some have screens, and they definitely connect to wifi. The ice cube thing is the silly part, but the actual fridge part wasn't that far off. I remember reading old tech blogs from around then and they're all over the place, some were way more wild than yours. So maybe don't beat yourself up too much, you were more right than you think. Idk, it's easy to look back and laugh, but the core idea was there.
