My old JVC CRT from 1998 still shows colors better than my new 4K monitor

I dragged that heavy thing out of my parents' basement last weekend to play some retro games and the picture was just so warm and natural. My $600 gaming monitor from Best Buy keeps washing out blacks and making skin tones look plastic. Anyone else got an old tech relic that still outshines the modern replacement?

I read somewhere that those old CRTs basically have infinite contrast compared to modern LCDs cause of how they handle black levels. Your 1998 JVC is probably still crushing it in that department no matter how much you spend on a new monitor.

My old 2001 Sony Trinitron still looks amazing in dark scenes compared to my newer monitor. I ended up keeping it for movies and retro gaming cause nothing else comes close for black levels.
