Saw a 2011 article claiming tablets would kill off desktop computers by 2015

I was cleaning out my garage last weekend and found a tech magazine with that prediction, yet here I am in 2024 building a new desktop because my iPad can't even handle basic spreadsheet work. Has anyone else held onto old tech predictions just to laugh at how wrong they were?

Tablets just carved out a different niche, they didn't kill anything.

Idk, I've seen people try the whole "tablets as laptop replacements" thing and regret it hard. Best advice I can give is to pick one device that does the main job you need, not try to force a tablet to be a laptop. Laptop for typing and multitasking, tablet for media and drawing. Trying to mix them always ends up with a compromise that bugs you after a few months. That's just been my experience helping friends pick devices over the years.
