Blew $80 on a cheap soldering iron kit off Amazon and it melted after 3 joints on a console repair job last Sunday.
The tip literally warped and the plastic handle started smoking, so now I'm stuck with a half-fixed Xbox and a $150 repair quote I could've avoided if I just bought a Hakko from the start why do we always learn the hard way?

Ah man, that hurts worse than the burn on your finger I'm guessing you got too. Nothing like a half-melted soldering iron to remind you that sometimes the "cheap option" is just expensive with extra steps.
