Found a box of melted power strips at the dump in Reno
Last weekend I was dropping off old paint cans at the Reno transfer station and saw this bin full of power strips that were all warped and discolored. One of them had literal burn marks shaped like a fork pattern, which is equal parts terrifying and hilarious. I asked the worker if people just toss them after they pop, and he said they get a few every week, usually because someone daisy chained five of them together. It made me feel better about my own mess, back when I ran a space heater off a triple tap extension cord for a whole winter. That thing got hot enough to melt the casing, and I only noticed because my roommate's cat kept sitting on it. Now I check the wattage on anything I plug in, but man, that dump pile was a whole museum of bad choices. Anyone else ever find a collection of fried electronics in a weird place like that?
