Pro tip: stop blaming the solder joint when the flux was the problem

Everyone in this group loves to rip out a joint and redo it, but I keep seeing posts where the culprit was cheap or old flux. I spent 6 hours last Tuesday chasing a flickering LED strip in my garage, resoldered every connection twice, then swapped to a fresh tube of rosin flux and it worked first try. The issue was that my flux had gone bad after sitting in a damp drawer since 2021, so it was actually pulling moisture into the joint instead of helping it flow. I know people swear by their favorite brand, but storage matters more than the label. Has anyone else dealt with crusty flux ruining a whole wiring job, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way?
