Rant: That neighbor who 'helped' me wire a lamp and shorted the whole garage

So three weeks ago my neighbor Dave sees me replacing a ceiling fixture in my garage and insists he knows electrical because he once changed an outlet. He kept saying "it's just two wires" while I was holding the ladder. I let him hand me the new fixture and he grabs the old wires first, no gloves, and pops the breaker on the whole back half of the house. Turns out he had the neutral and hot mixed up from a previous DIY job he did on his own place. I spent $140 on a licensed electrician the next morning just to trace his handiwork and fix two other connections he had botched in the same box. Point is, the guy meant well but cost me a full Saturday and almost a fire. Has anyone else had a well-meaning neighbor or friend make a bad wiring situation way worse than it started?
