Retired electrician buddy laughed at my wiring job, then showed me why
I was bragging to my neighbor Bob, who did electrical work for 40 years, about the ceiling fan I installed last Tuesday. He took one look at the junction box and just started chuckling. Said my connections were solid but I had the box packed so tight it could cook an egg in there. He showed me how he leaves room for air movement in every box, no matter how much it annoys him during the pull. That conversation made me realize I've been treating every install like a Tetris game instead of thinking about heat buildup. Has anyone else had an old timer point out something obvious that completely changed how you work?
