Spent $180 on a circuit breaker finder after I zapped myself twice in one week
I do roof work but I also wire the small stuff in my own shop, outlets, lights, that kind of thing, and a couple weeks back I was adding a circuit for my new compressor and could not figure out which breaker fed the old outlet I was replacing. I did the stupid thing and just started touching wires to see, got bit once, cussed, then got bit again ten minutes later because I am apparently a slow learner. My buddy who does commercial electrical work laughed at me and said go buy a breaker finder, so I dropped about $180 on a decent one at the supply house and it found the right breaker in like 30 seconds. The thing plugs into the outlet and you run the wand over the panel and it beeps when it hits the right one, no guessing, no zapping. Honestly it paid for itself in one afternoon because I stopped flipping breakers one at a time and walking back and forth across the shop like an idiot. It also saved me from accidentally killing power to my beer fridge which would have been a real tragedy. If you do any of your own wiring and you do not have one of these yet, why are you still playing the shock yourself game like I was?
