The 2012 breaker panel I inherited still gives me flashbacks

Bought a house near Dayton last spring, opened the panel, and found three different breaker brands mixed in plus wires doubled up on the same lug. Two days later the microwave flickered and the garage door opened by itself, so I paid $900 for a full rewire. Anyone else find old panels that are basically fire starters waiting for a dinner invite?
