Tried to fix a blown fuse with tinfoil like my grandpa said
My buddy swore tinfoil would work for a quick fix on a blown 15-amp fuse in my basement last week, but after 3 seconds it melted and sparked all over the place. I finally just spent $4 on the right fuse at Ace Hardware and it was way easier and safer. Why do people still push this junk idea when the real thing costs almost nothing?

Saved 3 bucks and almost burned your house down. Worth it?

Did your grandpa also tell you that a penny in the fusebox works for a blown main fuse? My uncle did that back in the 80s and it just melted the socket and tripped the whole breaker for the block. People pass down bad advice because it worked once by accident, not because it's safe.
