Wiring a 12V outlet in my camper and learned the cig plug fuse is only 15 amps, no wonder stuff kept dying
Spent last Saturday rewiring the 12V sockets in my 2011 Fleetwood and everything kept cutting out when I ran the little inverter. Pulled the panel and the factory fuse on that circuit was a 15 amp blade, even though the wire itself was 10 gauge and rated way higher. I'd been blaming my inverter for months and it was that dinky fuse the whole time. Swapped it for a 30 amp and added a proper inline fuse holder near the battery, and now my laptop charger and the fan run at the same time with no issues. Also learned from a forum post that the center pin on those cig plugs is only good for about 10 amps before it gets hot. Anyone else get burned by factory wiring being way under what the wire can handle?
