Hit 500 loaves yesterday and had to check the oven light twice

I keep a little tally on my whiteboard for how many loaves I bake from scratch each year. Yesterday I finished loaf number 500 for 2024 and I honestly thought I miscounted. I went back and added up the weekly totals and sure enough it was right. That's almost 10 loaves a week for me between farmers market orders and my own kitchen. Has anyone else ever hit a random number that made them step back and realize how much they actually bake?

Whoa hold up. That number doesn't add up right. 500 loaves in 2024 means that's over a year's worth of baking since we're only in October. Unless you started counting in January 2023 and meant 2023. Or maybe you're counting from a different starting point. 10 loaves a week for 50 weeks gives you 500, but if you've been doing this since January that's about 42 weeks which would be 420 loaves. Unless you're doing way more than 10 some weeks. Just saying the math feels off but congrats on the baking either way.

brians27, you're right to flag the math but I bet there's more to the story here. Are you counting total loaves over the whole year including batches you gave away or sold, or just what you kept at home? That would change the numbers a lot since a big bake day can easily push past 10 loaves.
