Hot take: My sourdough crust went from pale and soft to perfect in a month.

I finally started using a spray bottle to mist the inside of my Dutch oven right before the lid goes on. The steam difference is huge. Anyone else have a simple trick that made a big change like that?

Totally thought the spray bottle thing was a gimmick for way too long. I was stubborn about just using ice cubes on a tray below the bread. Tried the mist method last week and the crust color and crackle were on a whole other level. It's one of those things you have to see to believe.

Yeah I was the same with putting a pan of water in the oven, swore it did nothing. Then I forgot to fill it once and my loaf came out looking sad and pale, like it forgot to try. That was the proof I needed lol.
