I just made my 100th batch of sourdough starter and I'm not sure how to feel about it.

I mean, I started it during lockdown and just kept feeding it, and now it's this whole thing. My partner pointed out I've literally named it and bought it its own little fridge. Has anyone else hit a point where their starter feels more like a pet than an ingredient?

So you got a starter fridge, that's next level. What's the backup plan if the power goes out, like do you have a cooler ready for it? Mine's named Doughvid and I catch myself telling it about my day while I feed it, which is maybe a sign.

My friend lost power for a day and her starter turned into a science project, so a cooler is a must. She talks to hers too, so you and Doughvid are in good company, @robertsmith. Just don't give it a middle name.

Wait, you actually bought a whole fridge just for your starter? That's COMMITMENT right there. I respect the hustle but that's a lot for some flour and water. My starter's name is Yeasty Boy and he lives in the back of my regular fridge like a normal person.
