Just passed 100 loaves of sourdough from my starter and I'm still shocked
I started this thing back in 2020 like everyone else and figured I'd get bored after a month, but here we are 4 years later with a jar of goop that's older than my nephew... Has anyone else had a starter just keep going way longer than you expected?

My sister started a kombucha SCOBY around the same time and she keeps threatening to bury it in the backyard like a pet when it finally dies. I told her that's weird but honestly I get it. My starter has been through two moves, three different kitchens, and one apartment where the power went out for three days and I panicked about whether it had frozen solid. Came back fine after a good feed like nothing ever happened.

Three days without power and it just bounced back? That's a tough starter right there. Mine went through a fridge malfunction that turned it grey on top once, I almost threw the whole jar out. Gave it a stir and a feed and it was bubbling again by the next morning. These things are basically immortal if you don't let them get green mold.
