A client in Denver asked for a skin fade with a 0.5 guard on the sides last Friday
I explained the shortest setting on my clippers is a 1. He insisted he gets it done that way at another shop. I tried blending with the lever open and closed, but it just wasn't the same. Has anyone actually used a 0.5 guard or is this guy confused?

My Wahl clippers came with a 0.5 guard in the kit. It's a real thing, just not super common. That client probably goes to a shop that uses that brand. You can order the guard online if you want to match it.

Wait, is this like when someone asks me for a "half stamp" at the post office? I swear some people just make up measurements. I've only ever seen a 1 guard myself.
