A retired barber in his 70s said my taper felt rushed, and he wasn't wrong
He sat in my chair two weeks ago at my shop in Boise. Watched me fade a kid's sides and said, "You're moving like the haircut is in your way." I laughed it off. Then I did the math and realized I've been averaging 14 cuts a day, up from 9 when I opened. That's 5 more heads squeezed into the same 10 hours. He said he never took more than 11 in a shift, even on Saturdays, because past that your hands just go through the motions. Been slowing down to 11 this week and my neck and shoulders feel less wrecked. He might be onto something with that. How many cuts are you all doing before quality starts slipping?
