Almost lost a regular after trying a new fade technique last Tuesday

So I got a new guard set and wanted to test it out on a client who always lets me try stuff. Big mistake. His fade line was way too high and he looked like a marine recruit. He didn't say anything until he got home then texted me a photo. I offered to fix it for free but he said he'd give me another shot next week. Has anyone else had a client come back after a bad cut and actually let you fix it?

I mean is it really that serious though? He texted you a photo which is a bit dramatic in my opinion. Fades grow out in like a week or two tops. Marine recruit look is probably just a bad angle or bad lighting thing half the time anyway. Your guy said he'd come back so that's basically a win already. People act like a haircut is brain surgery sometimes when it's just hair.

My guy did the exact same thing a few months ago (he was trying to fix his own messed up fade at home, bless his heart). I just told him I liked it and moved on, because honestly the more I made a big deal the more he'd stress about it. Within a week it settled down and looked fine, you couldn't even tell by day ten. They always grow back way faster than you think they will, so picking your battles is the real move here.
