Fades vs. tapers for thin hair, I flipped my stance after one client
I spent 2 years telling anyone with fine hair to skip fades and stick with tapers, then a guy from Austin sat down and asked for a skin fade anyway. I did it, kept the guard work super light on the sides, and his hair actually looked thicker than the taper did the week before. Now I'm wondering if I've been overthinking density this whole time, or if that guy was just a lucky case. Anyone else seen thin hair pull off a fade better than expected, or am I reading into one fluke?

You ever notice how much of this is just about the weight of the fade line, not the actual hair density? Because a super tight fade with zero visible transition can give the illusion of more hair up top, even when there's barely any.
