Finally saw the difference after switching to a new clipper blade gap on my fade work

After 4 months of using the same .5 blade gap I tried a .4 on a customer yesterday and the blend from skin to mid fade looked way smoother than anything I've done before - has anyone else had a similar 'aha' moment from just changing one small adjustment?

Honestly that's wild because I had the exact same thing happen a few months back. I was stuck on a .5 forever and finally tried a .3 for my zero fade lines and it made such a huge difference in how clean the blend came out. It's crazy how such a tiny change can make your work look way more professional. Tbh it makes me wonder what else I'm sleeping on with my tools.

Wait hold on. A .5 and a .3 aren't the same thing. The .5 is a guard size, the .3 is a clipper blade. You can't really swap one for the other the way you're describing. The .3 blade is for detail work and shaping, not for blending a fade like a guard would do. If you tried using a .3 blade where you'd normally use a .5 guard, you'd end up with a hard line instead of a smooth blend. Sounds like you might be mixing up your numbering system there.
