Hit 1000 haircuts in my book this week and it made me rethink my whole pricing
I've been charging $25 for a basic cut for years, thinking that was the sweet spot for my neighborhood. When I hit that 1000 mark in my appointment app, I did the math and realized I'd been way undercharging for the time I put in. My buddy at the shop in Phoenix told me he starts at $35 and books solid. I'm bumping mine to $30 next month and adding a $5 'skin fade upgrade' option. Anyone else adjust their rates after hitting a big client number?

My own pricing math was so bad I almost gave myself a discount. Casey943 has a point about renaming things, but calling it an upgrade lets you charge more without scaring off the regulars. Good move bumping the base rate too.

Used to be one of those people who thought you should just keep prices low and make it up in volume. Figured nobody would pay more than a certain amount in a middle class area. Then a stylist friend showed me her numbers from last year and I had to admit I was wrong. She charges $40 for a basic cut and her chair is just as busy as mine. Made me realize I was basically working twice as hard for the same money.
