Pro tip: I just cut my 500th beard trim and the number hit me harder than I expected.

I kept a simple tally on a sticky note in my station, and seeing that count made me realize how much my technique has changed since I was just trying not to nick anyone's neck in my first year.

Keeping a tally is smart. I started doing that after my first hundred haircuts. It forces you to see the actual progress you've made. My early fades were just a series of harsh lines, but around the 300 mark, things started to look a lot smoother. The number itself becomes a record of all those tiny adjustments you didn't even notice making.

That's such a real way to put it. The tally really does turn into proof you can't argue with. It's easy to feel stuck and forget how far you've come until you see that number staring back at you. Those tiny, unseen adjustments are everything. Makes the whole grind feel worth it when you finally see the smoothness happen.
