Rant: Guy in my chair last Tuesday pulled out his phone mid taper and asked if I could match a pic of his old barber's fade
Honestly I have been cutting hair at my shop on Main Street for 8 years and I thought I had heard it all until last Tuesday. He pulls out his phone while I got clippers in hand, shows me a pic from like 2015, and says his old guy in Dallas did it for $15 and could I match it exactly. I told him I would do my best but that pic was blurry and the lighting was bad so the blend looked way tighter than it really was. He kept sighing every time I checked the mirror, and ngl I rushed the last bit just to get him out of my chair. Any of you deal with clients treating a photo like a blueprint? How do you politely say you cant copy lighting and angles?
That price tag is the real issue here, not the photo. Dude dropped $15 in Dallas years ago and now expects the same cut at the same rate, and the picture is his way of holding you to a number that does not exist anymore. You cannot copy lighting, angles, or a bad phone camera, but you also cannot copy a price from 2015 in a different city. Next time say straight up that photos lie and prices change, and if he wants that exact cut he can drive to Dallas. Rushing the fade just taught him that sighing gets him what he wants.
