Serious question, why do so many young barbers skip the neck strip and then act confused when someone gets a rash
I've been cutting hair in the same shop for 11 years now and I keep seeing new guys skip the neck strip because they think it looks cleaner or it's one less thing to grab. I counted it 4 times last month at our shop, a guy just puts the cape straight on the skin and goes to town. The strip is like 3 cents each and it keeps the cape off the neck so hair doesn't work its way under there and itch the rest of the day. Back when I started in 2013 my old boss made me buy my own box and if she caught me without one she'd send me home, and honestly she was right. A guy came back last week with red bumps on his neck and swore it was the clippers, but it was the cape rubbing all afternoon. Has anyone else noticed this in their shop or is it just mine?
