Showerthought: watching a barber in Chicago fade a head of hair cold made me throw out my clipper guards
Was in Chicago two weekends ago for a wedding and ducked into a spot on Division Street for a shape up. The guy in the next chair never touched a guard the entire cut, just flicked the lever and worked the blade by hand for a high fade. His line came out cleaner than anything I get with numbered guards, and he did it in 20 minutes. I went home and did a slow pass on a regular the next day with no guard at all and it honestly felt like learning to cut again. Any of you work mostly freehand or is that just a big city thing?
