Swapped my clipper blade for a straight razor on a tough neckline today

After six months of fighting with a #10 blade on this one guy's cowlick, the straight razor gave me a clean line in two passes and he actually said “finally, a barber who knows what he's doing.” has anyone else found certain hair types just refuse to cooperate with clippers no matter what guard you use?

Read somewhere that curly hair fights clippers like a badger in a trap.

Is that not the most accurate description of cutting curly hair you've ever heard? The clippers just snag and pull instead of cutting clean, and the hair wraps around the blade like it's trying to defend itself. Have to go in with a fresh set of blades or it's just a tangled mess. Wetting it down a bit helps but then you've got to be careful not to go too short. Honestly feels like you're wrestling a small animal that doesn't want to be there.
