Switched from feathering shears to a straight razor for necklines, wish I did it 10 years ago

I used to trim necklines with feathering shears for almost 12 years. Thought it gave a softer blend. About 6 months ago, an older barber in Tulsa told me I was leaving too much bulk behind the ears and handed me his straight razor. I tried it on the next client, just the neckline, and the difference was immediate. Cleaner lines, less irritation for guys with sensitive skin, and I shave maybe a minute off each cut. Only issue is I had to relearn pressure on the jawbone area. Anyone else make the switch late in their career and have trouble trusting it at first?

Wait, 12 years with feathering shears and nobody said anything until now?
