Walked into a barbershop in Austin and the guy was cutting hair with a straight razor and a beer in his hand
So I'm in Austin last weekend for a wedding and I pop into this random shop to get a quick lineup before the ceremony. Place looked legit from the outside, old school barber pole and everything. But I sit down and the barber is already halfway through a six pack, not even hiding it. He starts talking about how he learned his craft from some dude in San Antonio who taught him to never rush a fade. Dude was definitely buzzed but his work was actually clean, no lie. I was nervous the whole time though, watching him shave my neckline with that razor while swaying a little. He charged me $35 and I tipped him $10 because hey, at least he was honest about the beer. Has anyone else ever had a barber who was straight up drinking on the job?

Did you read that Texas Monthly article about barbers and bartenders swapping skills down in San Antonio? @jones.grace might be onto something though, seems like half the service industry is just vibing these days.
