Watched a guy at the Vegas barber expo cut a fade with a $12 trimmer and it hit me
So I was at the barber expo in Vegas about 8 months ago and this older dude was doing a demo on the floor. Everyone else had their $200 clippers and fancy guards laid out. He pulls out a cheap $12 Wahl trimmer from his apron and does a clean skin fade in like 11 minutes. I sat there watching him blend with just the corner of the blade and it honestly looked better than half the stuff I was doing with my $180 setup. Went home, tried his flick technique on a few regulars that week and my fades got way smoother. I still use my good clippers for bulk but that cheap trimmer lives in my pocket now for detail work. Anyone else learn something big from a guy using cheap gear at a show?
