A guy at a Columbus repair cafe pointed at my $8 solar power bank and asked one question that ruined my week
Last weekend I hauled my little thrift store solar charger to a repair cafe over on High Street in Columbus, mostly to see if anyone there could get the port to stop wiggling. An older guy in a worn-out Carhartt took one look at the label and asked me what the actual cell size was, because he's seen a bunch of these cheap panels rated way above what the cells can really push. I didn't have an answer, so he clipped a meter on it and we watched it pull about 1.8 watts under a desk lamp, not the 15 the box promised. Your mileage may vary depending on the brand, but if you've tested one of these things yourself, what number did you actually get?
