DAE give up on a $15 thrift store scanner and then it outlasted two new ones?
I picked up a crusty flatbed scanner at the Goodwill on Route 9 for $15 about four years back, mostly as a joke, and figured it would die inside a month. It's scanned every receipt, tax form, and kid's drawing since then while the $90 one I bought to replace it crapped out in 7 months, and honestly the old thing is still going. What's the cheapest piece of junk in your house that refuses to quit?
Man, this hits home! My grandma's old $10 Crock-Pot from a garage sale has been going for like 15 years and I swear it cooks better than anything new. Meanwhile the fancy one my sister got me died in a year. There is something real about old junk that was built to last instead of built to break so you buy another one. Cheap stuff back then was just simple and tough, no fancy parts to fail. I stopped laughing at thrift store finds after stuff like this.
