My $12 Goodwill DVD player lasted 8 years, my $90 Sony died in 1
I bought a cheap no name DVD player at a Goodwill in Omaha back in 2015 for $12 and it just finally stopped reading discs. Meanwhile I bought a Sony BDP S3700 for $90 at a Best Buy in 2022 and the tray jammed shut after a single year of light use. Part of me thinks the old junk was built better because there was less to break, but the other part thinks I just got lucky with one unit and unlucky with the other. Are budget players actually more reliable these days or did I just roll the dice twice?
