Swore by my $15 Walmart earbuds until I tried a $45 pair from a pawn shop in Reno
I used to think cheap wired earbuds were all the same, just grab whatever was $15 at Walmart and call it done. Then my buddy handed me a used pair of Soundcore Life U2s he got for $45 at a pawn shop on Virginia Street in Reno, and the bass actually made my old bus commute playlist sound like a different album. The $15 ones crapped out after 4 months anyway when the right side went silent, while these have lasted me 2 years of daily gym abuse so far. Anyone else got a pawn shop or flea market headphone find that surprised them, or am I just late to this whole thing?

The pattern here is that new stuff is built to die. Anything you get at full price now, earbuds, toasters, lawn mowers, lasts maybe a couple years tops before something dumb breaks. But the used stuff that already survived years of use tends to keep going, because whatever was cheap or weak about it got weeded out long ago. My brother's still rocking a 90s rice cooker from Goodwill for $8. Same idea, it outlived three of mine. New doesn't mean better, it just means nobody's tested it yet.
