Update: My $7 thrift store router kept dropping wifi every night at 9pm and I finally figured out why

So I bought this old Netgear WNR2000 at a Goodwill in Boise like 3 years ago for 7 bucks and it's been mostly fine, but every night around 9pm the wifi would drop for 10-15 minutes and I just dealt with it. My neighbor who does IT stuff finally came over and said "dude your router is on the same channel as like four other routers in this building" and showed me how to log in and switch the channel from auto to channel 11. Two months later and zero drops, I feel like an idiot for not asking sooner. Has anyone else had a cheap router that just needed one setting changed to stop being terrible?
