My offset smoker hit 225 and held for 6 hours straight, and I still can't decide if that counts
Fired up my Oklahoma Joe two Saturdays back and the dial sat right on 225 from 10am to 4pm without me touching the intake once. Half of me thinks that's finally proof I learned fire control, the other half thinks it was just a mild day with no wind and I got lucky. So which is it, did I earn it or did the weather do the work?
So basically the weather held your hand for six hours and you're out here taking a victory lap? A mild day with no wind is the smoker equivalent of a participation trophy, my friend. Sure, you kept it running, but did you actually fight for that temp or did you just sit there like a guy who won the lottery and thinks he's good with money? Next time try it when the wind's blowing sideways and the temp swings 40 degrees every hour, then come back and tell us if you earned it. Until then I'm calling it a fair weather win.
