PSA: I hit 14 hours on my 22 inch WSM at a comp in Tulsa and now I cant decide if thats skill or luck
Two weekends back I ran my 22 inch WSM at a backyard comp in Tulsa and the cook went 14 hours on one load of Kingsford blue with hickory chunks, no refuel, no temp spikes past 275. Half the guys there said thats just a well sealed cooker doing its job and I should stop bragging about it. The other half swear I got lucky with wind and outside temp and that same setup would choke on a cold morning. I run water in the pan the whole time and minion method with maybe 12 lit coals on top, thats it. So is long burn mostly the pitmaster reading the vents or mostly the cooker, and whats your longest run on one basket?
