Temp probe on my new smoker gave out during a brisket cook
I was 6 hours into a 14lb brisket last Saturday, finally had the stall breaking around 165, and then my Fireboard probe just flatlined. Looked at the display and it was showing dashes. Forgot my backup at home, had to guess when to wrap and pull it. Came out edible but not my best work. Anybody got a brand of probe that's held up longer than 6 months for them?

Man that sucks. Nothing like trusting your gear and getting ghosted mid cook. Guess you learned that backup probes are like spare tire now, you don't leave home without em.

Grab a pack of Thermoworks Pro-Series probes. I've had mine going on two years of smoker abuse and they still read dead nuts accurate.
