Am I the only one who dropped $75 on a 'rare' VHS lot from a garage sale in Reno and got nothing but workout videos?
I saw a box of 40 old blanks at a sale last weekend and the guy swore there was something weird on a few of them, so I handed over $75 without checking a single one. Turned out 38 were Jane Fonda workouts and two were just static, and now I'm out the cash and stuck with a box I can't even flip. What's the dumbest thing you ever bought sight unseen at a sale like that?

Learned the hard way that garage sale guys are basically pros at making junk sound interesting. Went to an estate sale last month and the lady running it told me a box of "old home movies" had some kind of family drama on it, so I paid $40 on the spot. Got home and it was just 6 hours of some dude filming his lawn. Not even the good kind of weird, just grass. Anyway my rule now is I open every single tape and check it right there in front of them, no matter how awkward it gets. If they won't let me look, I walk. Saves me a lot of sad drives home.
