Appreciation post: the mod who told me to stop posting YouTube links in this sub was right, and I finally get why
Last Tuesday I dropped a 20 minute video about deep sea creatures thinking it was the coolest thing I had seen, and a mod pulled it within 10 minutes. I was annoyed and sent a grumpy message asking why, and they explained that this place works best when people post one link and say why it's worth 5 minutes, not a whole video dump. So I tried it the next day with just a short article about a cave in Vietnam with its own jungle inside, and it got 47 upvotes and a real comment thread. Turns out when you share a video, most folks never even watch it, but a tight link with a good reason gets people talking. Has anyone else had a post taken down and then realized the rule actually made the sub better?
