Dropped $80 on a fancy torque wrench, then my buddy's $15 one did the same job

Last month I had to replace my car's brake calipers, so I bought this digital torque wrench online for $80 because I figured I needed the accuracy. Turns out my buddy had an old beam-style one from Harbor Freight that cost him $15, and we both set the same bolts to spec. His clicked the same way mine did, and the car brakes fine. I feel like I paid for a screen and a beep that doesnt add anything. Has anyone else spent big on a tool only to find the cheap version does the exact same thing, or am I just bad at picking gear?

Bought a $60 Fluke multimeter, $8 one from Amazon measured the same voltage.
