Drove by my old high school last weekend - the parking lot is now a solar farm

I was back in my hometown for a funeral (sad stuff) and decided to drive past my old high school on a whim. The whole student parking lot where I used to spend 20 minutes backing into a spot is now covered in solar panels. They had a little sign saying it powers about 30% of the school's electricity now. We used to have to sit in idling cars during winter mornings, and now they're literally making power from the same space. Has anyone else seen their old hangouts get totally repurposed like that?

Man, that's wild! My old high school's parking lot was the place where I'd practice my terrible parallel parking for 15 minutes and still end up two feet from the curb. Now it's generating clean energy? That's actually pretty cool, even if it makes me feel ancient. I guess we were just wasting space back then, idling our cars and burning gas while complaining about the cold. At least now kids might learn something useful from that lot, unlike my parking skills which are still a joke. Progress, I guess, but it still feels weird to see something from your past become so different.
