PSA: Paid $80 for a fancy plant identifier app that got every single thing wrong

I downloaded this app that promised to identify plants from just a photo. It looked so legit with all these 5 star reviews. I spent $80 on the yearly subscription thinking it would save me time on my garden planning. Turns out it called my rosemary 'lavender' and my tomato plant 'poison ivy'. I emailed support three times and got nothing back. Save your money and just use the free Google Lens thing instead. Has anyone else fallen for one of these overpriced apps?

Tbh Google Lens does the same thing for free.

@garcia.charles is totally right about Google Lens. That thing has saved me so much headache. My sister actually bought that exact same plant identifier app last spring and was so mad when it called her hydrangeas "wild onions" lol. What worked for me was just taking a few extra photos with Google Lens from different angles, especially the leaves and flowers. It's free and honestly way more accurate than anything I've paid for. Hope you get your money back somehow but at least you got a good story about the "poison ivy" tomatoes out of it.
