PSA: That "free" PDF converter site billed me $47 after one use

Clicked a random PDF to Word converter last Tuesday, no sign up or anything. Hit convert and it worked fine. Then my bank statement showed a $47 charge from some company called QuickDoc Services. No email, no warning, nothing. Took 3 days and a chargeback to get my money back. The site buried the subscription terms in a checkbox I apparently agreed to. Has anyone else gotten hit by these shady converter sites? What do you actually use that's safe?

Man that sucks but honestly I got burned worse once. Converted a "free" image file and two months later some random charge for like $89 showed up. Had to call my bank and everything. I just screenshot stuff and retype it now if I need a word doc.
