The 5 minute rule for cleaning my coffee grinder actually worked
I've been dealing with stale coffee for weeks because I hate taking apart my burr grinder. Tried running a handful of white rice through it on the coarsest setting and it pulled out all the old oily grounds in about 2 minutes. Has anyone else found a faster way to keep their grinder fresh between deep cleans?

You know, it's funny you mention that. I used to own one of those old hand-crank grinders and I'd just bang it on the counter a few times to get the stuck grounds out. Actually chipped the counter doing that once, so the rice trick sounds a lot smarter.

Tried the rice trick after breaking a cheap blade grinder trying to get old coffee dust out of it. Worked way better than I expected, just ran a big scoop through and it came out clean as new. Still tap the side a couple times out of habit though.
