Found a cassette with a drum machine demo from 1987
Found it in a box at my uncle's garage sale last weekend. The beat sounds like a skipping CD player mixed with someone dropping pots and pans, but the lyrics are about a sandwich. Makes me wonder what other accidental masterpieces are hiding in old boxes?

The sandwich lyrics are the key part though. In 1987 that was peak weird experimental phase for a lot of home tapers who couldn't afford studio time. I'd bet money this guy was trying to copy the Art of Noise with a busted Tascam four-track and just got hungry halfway through. Probably a whole microgenre of lunch-themed industrial music sitting in people's attics right now. My buddy found a similar tape last year with a whole concept album about a faulty toaster.

Honestly the best stuff is always hidden in plain sight like that. Reminds me how we overlook random mundane things every day that probably hold more magic than we give them credit for.
