That 2 AM snare hit in a 1999 nu metal track still cracks me up
Everyone in this sub loves those accidental studio noises, but I cannot get behind people calling them 'genius.' I spent 6 hours last Tuesday trying to find the source of a drum loop that sounds like a trash can lid falling down stairs. It was from a demo CD I bought at a flea market in Cleveland for $3, and the liner notes had zero credits. That random clank repeats 14 times and it's the best part of the song, but calling it intentional feels like a stretch. Why can't we just admit the engineer fell asleep and it worked out fine? Has anyone else wasted a whole evening tracking down a mystery sample that turned out to be a mistake?
