That song with the wrong snare drum hit that somehow works perfectly
I was digging through old mp3s last week and found this track from 2008 where the producer clearly triggered the snare a half beat late on every chorus. It sounds like a mistake at first but after three listens I couldn't imagine it any other way. My buddy who actually produces music told me it's technically "bad timing" but we both agreed it gives the song this weird anxiety that fits the lyrics. Has anyone else found tracks where a clear production error actually makes the song better instead of ruining it?

Oh man, you just reminded me of this old indie rock track where the bass player hits a wrong note so bad it sounds like a cat fell on the keyboard, but somehow it makes the whole chorus hit harder. I swear some of these "mistakes" are like happy accidents that no one could plan if they tried. It's like when you're cooking and you drop too much salt in but then it actually fixes the whole dish. Your buddy saying it's "bad timing" is technically right but also missing the point entirely. Sometimes the mess is what makes the thing memorable.

Laughing because I totally relate to that, @wyatt_chen86. My own attempt at "happy accident" was when I tried to cover a song and hit the wrong chord so hard my cat literally jumped off the couch. I left it in because it sounded like a gremlin was backing me up, and my friends still quote that part. It's like my musical equivalent of burning toast but somehow getting a perfect charred flavor.
